The Patient Care Supervisor will provide onsite supervisory support to our clinical team at our Peterkort South clinic. This role will supervise, direct and coordinate clinical staff who directly support clinicians, as well as supporting the clinic laboratory. The Patient Care Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring that our clinical staff operates efficiently and effectively, in order to provide the best care possible to our patients.


  • Responsible for departmental goal setting and direction of department functions. Works with Practice Manager to determine department long term goals and needs.
  • Establishes department priorities by answering questions and requests; establishes quality standards, methods and procedures; schedules activities and employees; monitors progress; revises schedules and resolves problems.
  • Manages performance, training, development, and scheduling of direct reports. Approves/edits employee schedules, absences, overtime, and vacation. Works with Practice Manager in the hiring and termination process. Writes and conducts clinical staff performance evaluations. Documents and tracks performance, attendance and leave of absences.
  • Consults with Practice Manager regarding employee issues and results as appropriate.
  • Partners with Practice Manager in decision making and problem solving for annual evaluations, developmental coaching and corrective action.
  • Responsible for employment and selection decisions. Completes and forwards employment requisitions for personnel replacements to Human Resources. Interviews, checks references, and makes hiring decisions for new employees, in coordination with Practice Manager and Human Resources. Partners with Practice Manager and Human Resources to resolve compensation issues and determine starting pay for new hires.
  • Coaches, trains and develops direct reports and promotes teamwork within WHA.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams within WHA by fostering a spirit of cooperation.
  • Serves as an employee role model in all patient interactions by remaining friendly, courteous and helpful. Ensures patient, staff and clinician satisfaction through efficient clinical staff operations. Solves staff problems as needed, or refers to Practice Manager. Responds to patient complaints and seeks resolution.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Prepares monthly schedule for employees. Ensures staffing coverage meets the needs of the clinic. Takes initiative to know clinician schedules, including vacations and other absences.
  • Certification from an accredited medical assisting program required, or graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical charting processes and procedures required. Prior experience with or the ability to learn electronic medical records software required.
  • Ability to make presentations, conduct training and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflows for positions supervised, including MA, LPN, Lab Assistant and other clinical staff positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively work with others.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a medical group setting preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in OB/GYN or a family practice setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills required.
  • Ability to lead at a high level of excellence and to train others in the essential job functions for the position(s) for which they are responsible.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding.
  • Demonstrated success in service excellence and quality improvement.
  • Proven effective communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook).
  • Current driver's license and vehicle, or ability to procure transportation to other clinics or meeting sites.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
